I've been trying to finish the Amari Shawl, which has turned into the not-so-amari shawl because I couldn't do the lace edging. I tried it 6 times and messed it up 6 times. Without a chart it was really hard to see where I was making a mistake. Lace knitting isn't my strong suit. I have too many distractions to knit it correctly so I've switched to a boring garter stitch edge. It may be boring, but it's the only way this shawl's going to become a finished object before the end of 2012. I'm also still working on the mitered block blanket. Every time I get going on it I lose one of the needles. Such is life knitting with toddlers.
As for reading I finished Stephen King's On Writing last week (read it in two days). It's a book that helps you recognize the writer within yourself. Unfortunately, reading a Stephen King memoir is a tough act to follow and Patton Oswalt's Zombie Spaceship Wasteland doesn't meet the challenge. The content is too esoteric even for this big dork. I just wasn't able to get sucked into the story, which sucks because I enjoy Patton Oswalt's comedy, but then I might not be the intended audience. What are you knitting and reading?
