yarnalong_gsheller_grayIt's Yarn Along again. Time to see what knitters are knitting and reading all around the interwebs. It's a great way to find new knitting blogs and get people to find yours too!! Click here to read all of our old yarn along posts. We've been doing this a while and you can see our progress on our knitting for almost the past year!

I'm sure all of you are sick of looking at The Multnomah Shawl. I've knit a few more rows on it so there's nothing much to see photo-wise so I thought I would track down yet another size two dpn and knit a little bit on the socks. I did find another dpn, but a slice of bamboo has split down one side of it :(.

I think this means that I need to amass a large quantity of size 2 dpns in various materials to figure out a new favorite.

Speaking of the socks I mentioned when I first cast them on that I wish I were knitting them for myself and that maybe I would put on another pair of Lorna's socks that my mom knit for me a few years back. Well apparently my mom's reading the blog because she just gifted me a  pair of socks she knit for me out of Lorna's Laces shepherd sock! It's always nice to receive hand knit socks even if I can knit them myself because it's basically a gift of time -I don't have to knit those socks for myself so now I have time to knit another pair of socks.

As to reading, last week I found a set of Kahlil Gibran books from 1969 at a garage sale as well as a few Marion Zimmerman (Mists of Avalon) books. I've started small and have been reading Gibran's Sand and Foam first.

If you're unfamiliar with Kahlil Gibran, read about him at wikipedia. He was a Lebanese poet and artist who emigrated to the US in the late 1800's.

Here are some of my favorite poems from Kahlil Gibran so far:

"Art is a step from nature toward the Infinite"

"A traveler am I and a navigator and every day I discover a new region within my soul."

"If you would possess you must not claim"

"Sow a seed and the earth will yield you a flower. Dream your dream to the sky and it will bring you your beloved"

and my very favorite:

"We live only to discover beauty. All else is a form of waiting"

Lots of beautiful thoughtful things.
