Yarn Along July 11

yarnalong_gsheller_grayIt's Wednesday, time for Yarn Along with Small Things when knitbloggers share what they're reading and knitting.

It's vacation knitting time and I'm still doing Project Stash's Amari Shawl KAL. The progress is going well even with my tight gauge. It might just get finished before the end of summer. I'm reading a Harper's Bazaar magazine on loan to me from my MIL. Fashion magazines allow me to pretend like I'm stylish even if just for a few moments. Funny how young children and too many interests can lead to poor personal style. With all the breastfeeding I'm doing my favorite outfits are the ones where people won't notice too much that I'm not wearing a bra.

I also brought Girlosophy, which is one of my all time favorite books of inspiration. It's a good book to have on hand when you need a good swift kick in the ass and to get refocused. Then I also wanted a little bit of Yarn Harlot goodness and brought The Secret Life of a Knitter. I have aspirations to be a better writer. Maybe Stephanie Pearl-McPhee can show me the way?

How's your week going? What are you knitting and reading? Let me know in the comments.

Such a beautiful shawl! Sounds like perfect timing to have it completed just in time for the autumn!

Your Amari shawl looks so beautiful -- I really love the color. I need to check out Girlosophy -- sounds great.

Evelyn,

Girlosophy is awesome, it's actually meant for teenage girls, but there are truths in there that work for your whole life. I love the design and the photography.

Welcome

angelafall2013smallI'm Angela. I'm an obsessed knitter.

Blogging about knitting since 2004.

What's going on now?

To sum up: husband has a job after two layoffs in 2013. Husband has been laid off for the fourth time in two years due to companies cancelling projects. I have two kids under the age of 5, we just moved in with my mother in law and I think I'm starting to get my mojo back. I've had writer's block for weeks.
