The Top Ten...

Things that make me who I am.
  1. Family
  2. Friends
  3. Knitting
  4. Blogging
  5. Traveling
  6. Reading
  7. Watching movies
  8. Meditating
  9. Walking
  10. Smelling the Roses

Lately these things have been all fighting with each other for my attention and I've been wanting to do them all. Maybe you can relate? Sometimes I get to making blogging my first priority. Sometimes I get long stretches to knit. Lately my family has been taking up most of my time. My sons have been leveling up in major ways which have required hands-on attention. Older son is potty training and younger son is learning to walk. Neither son is going to bed at the hour they are supposed to, which means I haven't been able to write much.

Perhaps I've had a touch of writer's block too. Every time I think of something to blog I become too ambitious in what I want to write and then the task seems to big to even attempt.

Clarity is coming back bit by bit and it's nice to be writing again. I've been working with the Denise Interchangeable Knitting needles to understand how they work and the projects that would benefit the most from their use. I have been knitting a lot because it's been much easier to knit in between potty breaks and lifting up the toppled baby. I'm still working on the Amari Shawl and a pair of socks. I won't even look at the Diminishing Rib Cardigan Yarn. That still hurts.

What competes with your knitting? How do you make time to do your favorite things? Let me know in the comments.

To quote Carlos Fuentes: "Writing is a struggle against silence."

Your competing interests only show how interesting you (and your life) are! Small bites ... that is advice I always try to follow, too.

Welcome

angelafall2013smallI'm Angela. I'm an obsessed knitter.

Blogging about knitting since 2004.

What's going on now?

To sum up: husband has a job after two layoffs in 2013. Husband has been laid off for the fourth time in two years due to companies cancelling projects. I have two kids under the age of 5, we just moved in with my mother in law and I think I'm starting to get my mojo back. I've had writer's block for weeks.
