    Call me a little enthusiastic.

The fundraising over, my bedroom clean, the dream knitting chair now home I dove head first into some new knitting.

    Maybe a little too enthusiastic.

I've already run out of yarn (for this project anyway). :( I ordered another skein of the Darn Good Yarn Sari Ribbon in Bone, but my lumbar pillow for the dream knitting chair won't be finished until that sucker comes in the mail. I'm very happy with this project. It's a quick knit based on my own simple pillow cover design, which I'll publish here once I'm done with it. It's the perfect thing to do with recycled sari ribbon, or any ribbon yarn really. I don't like the feel of ribbon yarn for scarves or hats, but for home stuff it works really well. I can't wait for it to be finished.

Big needles and big yarn, usually the last thing I want to wear, but it looks great on pillows. I did one side pink and started the other in "Bone", which is an ivory white with little hints of pink. Kind of reminds me of Gwen Stefani's wedding dress.

Sometimes the knitting just finds you. After all this crazy I just needed something quick and creative. It feels good to be back.

2016 has not been a great year for knitting so far. Sure I've knitted some hats, but I haven't had anything on the needles that really inspired me. I've liked the hats, but the pullover has been long neglected and I only just now finished one sock out of a pair that I started last fall. I think that goes on record as the longest I've ever taken to knit a sock.

This shouldn't be surprising. I was in charge of my preschool's big fundraiser, which weighed on me for a whole year. It's finally done and while I'm happy it's over and the money has been raised, it's taking a lot longer than I'd like to regain my sense of self and what I want from the world. Before I took this job I was in charge of a burgeoning non-profit organization and kicking butt here. A year later the organization has taken off on its own (there was no way that I could have done both) and I feel disconnected from the knitting and blogging that I love to do. It's been hard to figure out what to knit, forget about what to write.

So I took some time to binge watch GIRLS and Vikings. I finished that one sock, which mainly needed a toe and kitchener stitch to complete. I ate cheese and drank wine. And I cleaned my room to prepare for this one thing:

    The dream chair:

I've been drooling over this chair for months. From the moment I saw it in the store I knew the exact place it needed to be: in the corner of my room. Until recently this corner had been full of auction items for that fundraiser, so it feels great to see a comfy and cute chair in that spot instead. It also encourages me to keep my room clean. I do not want to see dirty laundry on this chair. No sir. Lucky for me I was able to find one on Craigslist (can you hear the thrift angels singing for me?)

But the chair is missing something. A small throw pillow, which I think I'm going to knit with this:

    darngoodpillowyarn

It's Darn Good Yarn Sari Silk Ribbon. It will knit up nice and chunky and provide a nice texture contrast with the chair. I'm going to have to make up the pattern myself because there isn't much online for chunky silk knitted pillows. I am interested in doing a unique stitch pattern possibly like the one used here in the One More Skein book. However I do only have one skein of this yarn and it needs to go farther so I might just stick with a simple stockinette.

Huh. Here's a revelation. I feel more and more myself just writing this one blog post.

    Stay tuned for more.
