There are some benefits to putting the sweater knitting aside for a week. You end up with a pair of finished hand knit socks. These were some of my favorite socks to knit. I wasn't sure about them when I cast on, but I was confident. The Yarn was old school fleece artist sock that I got from a fellow raveller. It's the Cosmic Dawn colorway and I honestly had no idea how they were going to knit up. To be honest, I wasn't sure I was going to like them. So many bright colors with a rather drab brown, that I suspected might ruin the other colors, but I was wrong.
I adore them and they're the best socks that I have knit in a long time. Maybe it's because I actually knit them for myself that I feel this way, or that I have fond feelings for the other two pairs of Fleece Artist socks I've knitted. I enjoyed these so much that I'm tempted to bust out my last skein of Fleece Artist sock, and I really should save that for another time... like when I'm knitting a pair of socks for myself.
The next couple of pairs I knit will be holiday gifts. Every year I choose a member of my family or some close friends and knit socks for them. Last year it was my brother and sister in law. I already have people in mind for this year and as much as I love them I think I have to save the last skein of Fleece Artist sock for me.
Another fun part for me: going through the sock yarn stash and picking the next pairs of socks I'm going to knit. I have some vague ideas. More on that tomorrow.
