Candy Heart Washcloth

A cute heart-shaped washcloth, a perfect gift for friends and family. Embroider “True Love” to make it look more like a candy heart!


Materials:

Yarn: 1 ball MC color #1219, Crystal Palace Yarns Cotton Chenille, 100% Cotton, 98 yards.
1 ball CC color #2230 Crystal Palace Yarns Cotton Chenille, 100% Cotton, 98 yards.

Needles: (1) pair size 6, 16 inch circular needles, (1) size I crochet hook
Notions: Tapestry needle.

Gauge:

4.5 stitches to the inch.


Notes:

This washcloth starts at the top of the heart, knitting each “bump” separately, then joining the bumps together and evenly decreasing to the bottom point of the heart.

Pattern:

Top of heart: make 2

Cast on 13 stitches. Knit 1 row.
Knit 1, make 1, knit to the last stitch, with yarn in front, slip the last stitch.
Repeat increase rows two more times for a total of 16 stitches.

Then: knit 2 rows even, slipping the last stitch with yarn in front as before..
Then: 2 increase rows. 18 stitches

Alternate these 4 rows until you have 23 stitches, ending with a WS row. Cut yarn and leave stitches live on the circular needle. Make one more.

Then: Make sure second top part faces the correct way, with bound off tail on the right side (not on left).

Knit across the stitches, joining the two bumps together, knit to the last stitch, slipping it with the yarn in front.

Knit three more rows even, continuing to slip the last stitch as before.
Next row: Knit 1, ssk, knit to three stitches before end, k2tog, sl1 wyif.
Then: knit three rows even, slipping last stitch as before.

Repeat these four rows until 20 stitches remain, ending with 3 even rows.

Then alternate decrease row as before, but only knit 1 row even instead of three.

Repeat these two rows until 4 stitches remain, ending with a WS row.

Then: ssk, k2tog.
Then K2tog, cutting yarn and pulling it through the last stitch.

Weave in ends and with right side facing, single crochet around the edge.
