One of the things we like to write about on Knit Luck is geeky knitting. Knitting that relates to pop culture. We love knitted cthulhus, spaghetti monsters, vampires and the like and I felt that it was time to feature that on the blog and have included it as a main menu item. So check that out in the menu under geek knitting. In celebration of this and other geeky knitting I also wanted to share with you a knitting book that came out last month: Knits for Nerds by Joan of Dark.
I grew up in a geeky household. The first movies we ever watched were Star Wars, Back to the Future and Young Frankenstein. It was a cause for celebration when it was announced that the Lord of the Rings books would finally make it on film. My mom used to play text-based video games when I was knee high to a grasshopper. I think this is pretty cool. This is why I wonder why they call this book "Knits for Nerds" and not "Knits for Awesome People. My mom is an awesome nerd.
Seriously though, I can't wait to check it out. I love how it's come out way in advance of Halloween so that I can knit this Princess Leia get-up for my costume.
Do you have a copy of Knits for Nerds? What have you knit from it? Let me know in the comments.
