This week not much has changed since yesterday. I've only gotten a few rows done on the Shakespeare Cardi since yesterday and that's not much to photograph... but I have started canning again.

That's right it's canning season and I'm starting 2013 with spicy orange marmalade.

I'm using the Ball Canning Handbook

Here are the peppers. So glad to finally put those to good use. I'll show you how it turns out tomorrow!

Year of Projects Week 2
Monday, 11 March 2013 00:00

I missed it last week, but I'm back this week for Year of Projects.

After starting the Dahlia Cardigan I felt a little bit guilty about ignoring the Shakespeare Cardigan so I went back to it and have been knitting like a crazy fool ever since. I've finished the left front and I'm almost done with the back. I'm still worried whether I'll have enough yarn to finish. I have about 5 skeins of yarn left and that's got to cover the right front and two sleeves -plus the collar and button band. Please pardon the following panic:

***If anybody has some spare Jo Sharp Aran Tweed in Jewel, please let me know I'll pay top dollar for it!*****

I'm nearly done with the back. I just have to bind off for the shoulders and then bind the whole thing off, though I'm considering just putting them all on a stitch holder so that I can three-needle-bind-off everything. I'd rather do that than kitchener stitch with this yarn.

I did another two rounds of the Dahlia Cardigan today. I need a longer cable...

I finally did turn my attention to the Shakespeare Cardigan and finished the left front. It's pretty simple now that I've actually figured out how all the decreases work. I did have to rip out a few rows because I was doing the decreases on the wrong side. Overall I'm happy with the progress and if I knuckle down this sweater could be done by the end of the month.

As for reading I participated in the redditgifts book exchange and made out like a bandit with two Fables Cinderella Trades and Howl's Moving Castle, which I've always wanted to read, so that's what's going on on the book front.

How's your knitting and reading going?

I'm knitting lace. What the hell am I thinking?

dahliaprogress11

Actually the lace bit on the Dahlia cardigan isn't too terrible. In fact I've eschewed knitting just about anything else since casting on. The poor Shakespeare Cardigan has been long neglected. Maybe I'll pull that out tonight to give it a little love.

Mood: Happy that the rainy weather is coming back.
